Romance is the glamour which turns
the dust of everyday life into a golden

"Each friend represents a
world in us, a world possibly
not born until they arrive,
and it is only by this meeting
that a new world is born."
- Anais Nin

Our actions throughout the day seek to imitate
nature by having a purpose. Kindness is like
the rising of the sun that sheds new light on
matters, and compassion is like the rain that
washes away the old and nurtures new life.

Some TV shows I like

Midsomer Murders, Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, Desperate Housewives, House, Old Christine, NCIS, Criminal Minds, CSI/Vegas, Numbers, Hamish MacBeth, Medium, Ballykissangel, Psych, Dexter, Dead Like Me, Bones, The Mentalist, Royal Pains, Grey's Anatomy, Warehouse 13, Castle, & The Closer. I also like a lot of the BBC mini series and just about anything on the Travel Channel.
Books

I love to read mysteries. Especially books by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child:
Riptide, The Ice Limit, The Cabinet of Curiosities, Still Life with Crows, Brimstone, Book of the Dead, and Dance of Death.

I've often heard of books that you couldn't put down, but never really found one until I read The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson. It takes place in the late 1800's and it is the story of Dr. H.H. Holmes, a serial killer in Chicago. While he was luring unsuspecting victims to their deaths, just a short distance away was the construction of the second World's Fair. As interesting as the story of this serial killer is, the story about the World's Fair (White City) was surprisingly captivating.

The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield is a novel about an aging famous author
who's life is about to end. She has written twelve best sellers, all based on events
of her life. These stories were part truth and part fiction. But, now at the end of her
life, she wants to tell the thirteenth tale. Only this one will be the truth about her life.
A life books of fiction are made of, but a life she had to keep secret.
This was an excellent story. It held my interest and caused me to look forward to
picking this book up again and learning more about Vida's history. A life story so
hard to believe, and yet you know stories like this may have happened to many.
I would most certainly recommend it.

The Arrow and the Song - Longfellow
I shot an arrow into the air,
It fell to earth, I knew not where;
For, so swiftly it flew, the sight
Could not follow it in its flight.
It fell to earth, I knew not where;
For, so swiftly it flew, the sight
Could not follow it in its flight.
I breathed a song into the air,
It fell to earth, I knew not where;
For who has sight so keen and strong,
That it can follow the flight of song?
Long, long afterward, in an oak
I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end,
I found again in the heart of a friend.
It fell to earth, I knew not where;
For who has sight so keen and strong,
That it can follow the flight of song?
Long, long afterward, in an oak
I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end,
I found again in the heart of a friend.
If someone shows you who they are,
believe them.
believe them.
Maya Angelou

Compassion, ethics, science, and nature.
Live, love, laugh, play, rejoice, celebrate.
Explore, discover, question, dare, understand, wonder, reflect.
Create, care, conserve, nurture. Share, help, hug, heal, inspire.
There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and (will) be lost. The world will not have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is; nor how valuable it is; nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours, clearly and directly, to keep the channel open. You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep open and aware directly to the urges that motivate you. Keep the channel open. No artist is pleased. There is no satisfaction whatever at any time. There is only a strange, divine dissatisfaction, a blessed unrest that keeps us marching and makes us more alive than the others.
Martha Grahm to Agnes DeMille

I hear a voice you cannot hear,
which says I must not stay;
I see a hand you cannot see,
which beckons me away.
Thomas Tickell

If abuses are destroyed, we must destroy them.
If slaves are freed, we must free them. If new
truths are discovered, we must discover them.
If the naked are clothed; if the hungry are fed;
if justice is done; if labor is rewarded; if
superstition is driven from the mind; if the
defenseless are protected and if the right
finally triumphs, all must be the work of people.
The grand victories of the future must be won
by humanity, and by humanity alone.

An endless mile; a bus wheel turning
A friend to share the lonesome times
A handshake and a sip of wine
So say it loud and let it ring
We are all a part of everything
